Dr. Julie M. Sturm is a board certified ophthalmologist with fellowship
training in the areas of cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. She is a
native of St. Louis and a graduate of the University of Missouri – Kansas City
School of Medicine. After a year internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center,
she completed ophthalmology residency at University Hospital of Cleveland – Case
Western Reserve.
Dr. Sturm completed her fellowship at the prestigious Assil-Sinskey Eye
Institute in Los Angeles, California, where she trained with Dr. Kerry Assil.
Dr. Sturm is certified in the latest LASIK technology, as well as implantation
of the new Verisyse™ Lens implant. She is also certified to perform BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures. Dr. Sturm has performed and assisted in several thousand
LASIK and other eye procedures.
Dr. Sturm has been involved in several clinical research activities. During her
fellowship, she was involved in US FDA Clinical Trials examining future lens
technology. At the 2003 national meeting of the American Society of Cataract and
Refractive Surgeons, Dr. Sturm and her research associate presented a research
project on LASIK. The presentation was well received by her fellow physicians
and was awarded the top paper presentation of the session.
Dr. Sturm is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive
Surgeons, American Medical Association, St. Louis Ophthalmological Society, and
the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Sturm is a member of the medical staff at both Christian Hospital and DePaul
Health Center. She services patients in St. Louis and the surrounding
metropolitan areas of St. Charles County, as well as the Illinois regions of
Madison County, Monroe County and St. Clair County.
