Dr. John P. Goltschman has been a practicing eye surgeon in St. Louis for
over twenty-five years. He is board certified and has performed thousands of
cataract surgeries since beginning his practice in 1977. Dr. Goltschman performs
“no stitch, no patch” cataract surgical procedures. With use of the latest
technology, the surgery requires only a small, self-closing incision with no
stitches. Most patients can resume their normal routine the day after surgery.
He, along with Dr. Marvin Koenig, opened The Cataract Surgery Center in 1983 in
Florissant, MO. This facility was the first freestanding outpatient surgery
center in the St. Louis area designed specifically for surgery of the eye. As
president of The Eye Center, Dr. Goltschman has implemented his practice
philosophy of utilizing the latest technology to better treat patients. At The
Eye Center he services patients in St. Louis as well as the surrounding
metropolitan areas of St. Charles County and the Illinois regions of Madison
County, Monroe County, and St. Clair County.
Dr. Goltschman is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He
completed his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University.
He is currently on staff at Christian Hospital, DePaul Health Center, St. Louis
University Hospital, and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Dr. Goltschman is
a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, St.
Louis Ophthalmological Society, St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, and the
American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. and Mrs. Goltschman are lifelong St. Louis residents. They have been married
for over thirty-three years. They have two married daughters and are proud
grandparents.
