Dr. Alan P. Kretchmar has been a practicing ophthalmologist in the St. Louis
area for over twenty-five years. He has been board certified since 1978. Dr.
Kretchmar has had many years of experience in the management of glaucoma, as
well as treating other diseases of the eye. At The Eye Center, Dr. Kretchmar
services patients in St. Louis and the surrounding metropolitan areas of St.
Charles County as well as the Illinois regions of Madison County, Monroe County,
and St. Clair County.
Dr. Kretchmar is a graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine. After
an internship with St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, he completed his
ophthalmology residency at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is
currently on staff at Christian Hospital, DePaul Health Center, Missouri Baptist
Medical Center, St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Kirkwood.
Dr. Kretchmar is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Missouri
Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, St. Louis Ophthalmological Society, and
the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society.
Dr. and Mrs. Kretchmar have been married for thirty years. They have three
children and have been St. Louis residents for thirty-five years.
